OSCEOLA, FLA.:
The Southwest Minnesota State softball team lost 3-2 to Ashland (Ohio) on Tuesday afternoon at the Rebel Spring Games in Florida.  The loss drops SMSU to 4-3 this spring.

The Mustangs had a good opportunity to tie the game in the sixth when Amanda Opatz hit a triple.  However, she was picked off of third base.  The next batter Amanda Burkhart's flyout to center likely would have scored Opatz.

Angie Rohne took the loss on the mound, giving up all three runs, while pitching 2.2 innings.  Amanda Johnson pitched 3.1 innings and had one strike out.

The Mustangs scored all of their runs in the fourth inning as they took advantage of two Ashland errors.  With one out, Erin Dickhausen reached base on a error by the centerfielder and used her great base running skills to reach second on the play.  Amanda Tucci then reached base on a throwing error by the third baseman, which also allowed Dickhausen to advance to third.  Amanda Opatz hit a single through the right side scoring SMSU's first run of the game.  One batter later, Kiley Petersen had a RBI single to score the Mustangs second, and final run of the game.

Ashland scored two runs in the first inning and one in the third as the Mustangs committed three errors in the game.

SMSU was led by Amanda Opatz with two hits and one RBI.
