ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced Thursday that the Southwest Minnesota State softball team has been picked fifth in its preseason coaches’ poll. The Mustangs received 143 points in the poll, which was voted on by the NSIC’s head coaches. SMSU’s

Defending NSIC Tournament champion Winona State received 11 first-place votes and 179 points to take the top spot in the poll. Wayne State, Minnesota State and Augustana fell in ahead of SMSU.
