No. 12 SMSU Opens Season with 3-0 Win over Lynn (Fla.)

FT. LAUDERDALE, FLA.: Outside hitter Laura Hegerle recorded a team-high 12 kills and setter Sara Graf had 23 assists as the Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team defeated Lynn (Fla.) 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-19) in its season opener at the Nova Southeastern Classic in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Senior Sarah Quiram recorded eight kills and led the Mustangs' defensive attack with a team-high 12 digs. The Mustangs outblocked the Sharks 15-to-8, with true freshman Halie Wewel anchoring the SMSU defensive wall with a team leading six blocks.

Senior Kasey Loeslie, making her first appearance since sitting out with an injury last season, had eight kills and five blocks in her return performance.

SMSU is now 1-0 and will take on host Nova Southeastern tonight at 7 p.m EST.
