NCBWA Preseason All-America Team

Adam Schrader have been named to the 2010 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association preseason All-America squads on Tuesday.
Bauer was named to the first team preseason All-America team, Kinney was named to the third team squad, while Schrader was named honorable mention.
The association's Division II national poll voters and members of the association's board of directors selected the NCBWA Division II Preseason All-America teams from nominations submitted by sports information directors at NCAA Division II baseball-playing institutions.
Bauer, a native of Tracy, Minn., batted .397 last season with a team-high 14 doubles and finished second in home runs with 14. He also ranked second on the squad in both RBI (54) and base hits (62).
Kinney, a native of Coon Rapids, Minn., finished the 2009 season with a .408 batting average and led SMSU in home runs (17), RBI (55), base hits (64) and slugging percentage (.803). Kinney was named NCBWA honorable mention All-America last season and was also named first team All-Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Daktronics. Kinney begins the 2010 season ranked second in school history in slugging percentage (.699), third in home runs (33), seventh in RBI (133) and 10th in batting average (.365).
Schrader, a native of Easton, Minn., finished 5-1 last season with a 3.88 earned run average in a team-high 60.1 innings. He appeared in 11 games with 10 starts and tossed three complete games, including one shutout, while striking out a team-high 67 batters. Schrader set an SMSU single-game record with 15 strikeouts in a victory over Winona State in the NSIC tournament.
SMSU finished 28-15 last season and qualified for the program's first-ever NCAA regional tournament berth. The Mustangs open the 2010 season on Feb. 4-5 with a four-game non-conference series versus Minnesota Duluth at Mall of America Field at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis.
