MARSHALL, Minn. - No. 4 Southwest Minnesota State took care of business Tuesday night, as they downed the University of Sioux Falls in straight sets. SMSU earned the victory with set wins of 25-21, 25-16, and 25-9. With the win, the Mustangs improve to 9-1 overall, 2-1 in NSIC play, while USF dropped to 8-4 overall, 0-3 in NSIC play.
The Mustangs trailed early in the first set but put a run together to come back and take the set 25-21.
SMSU would dominate in the second and third sets as they took the sets 25-16 and 25-9.
Brooke Burmeister had a match high 14 kills while
McKell Anderson slammed 12.
As a unit, SMSU hit .370 for the match with only 11 errors while USF struggled with a .084 attack percentage and 17 errors.
SMSU will be home this weekend as the Mustangs host St. Cloud State and No. 3 Minnesota Duluth.
