MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State Athletics Department will hold its third annual community food drive from March 22 to 26. SMSU student-athletes will be going door-to-door in the community to collect nonperishable food items for the Kitchen Table Food Shelf in Marshall. MARSHALL, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota State head cheerleading coach #Jen Hanson# has announced that tryouts for the 2010-11 team will be on April 9 and 10 at the Dance Studio in the Social Science Building (Room 147) on the campus of SMSU. Registration will be promptly at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 9. There will be two mandatory clinics to teach tryout material. Individuals will learn a four eight-count dance, two cheers, the SMSU Fight Song, jumps and basic stunting. Gymnastic ability is a bonus but is not required. 2010 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS OMAHA, Neb. - Southwest Minnesota State wrestlers Brandan Schunk, CD Johnson and Brian Rodas all lost their opening matches of the NCAA II National Championships in Omaha, Neb. Schunk lost 10-9 to Mario Morgan of Nebraska-Omaha at 141 lb., Johnson lost 6-3 to Tim Darling of Kutztown at 174 lb., while Rodas dropped a 5-2 decision to Charlie Alexander of Western State.
