The P.E. (Physical Education) Gym is home to the SMSU volleyball, wrestling and wheelchair basketball teams. In addition, the P.E. Gym housed the SMSU men's and women's basketball teams until the completion of the R/A Facility in the summer of 1996. During the winter and early spring, SMSU's baseball and softball teams conduct practices in the P.E. Gym with batting cages that can be lowered.
The P.E. Gym was the first venue that SMSU's indoor sports called home. It was one of the original buildings on site, hence its location in the center of campus. The facility seats approximately 2,000.
The SMSU volleyball team has enjoyed tremendous success in the intimate confines of the P.E. Gym, compiling an
all-time home record of 245-136 at home (records not available prior to the 1978 season).
SMSU wrestling has called the P.E. Gym home since the program's inception in 1967.
