Tyler Reed Named to CDS Preseason All-America Team

MARSHALL, MINN.: Southwest Minnesota State University senior safety Tyler Reed has been named to the 2008 Consensus Draft Services (CDS) first team preseason All-America football team.

CDS is in its fifth year of operation as the largest independent college scouting organization in terms of staff in the country and covers all divisions of NCAA and NAIA college football.  The website consistently places in the top 10 in terms of site traffic for individuals interested in the National Football League draft.

Reed, a 6-foot-3, 211-pound native of Ottumwa, Iowa, was named first team All-Northwest Region last season by both Daktronics and Football Gazette.  A 2008 first team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honoree, Reed led SMSU a season ago with 101 tackles, including a team-high 56 solo stops.  He also recorded three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, five pass break-ups and blocked one kick.  He finished tied for third in the NSIC in tackles with 84 in nine league games while also scoring two defensive touchdowns including a school record 100-yard interception return versus the University of Mary and a 27-yard fumble return versus Wayne State College.

For his career Reed has started in all 33 games recording 221 tackles and five interceptions.
