December 23, 2010 – Hoof Prints Article
Hello Mustang Fans!
With the Christmas Holiday comes a quiet week around the SMSU Athletics Department, especially with the new “Life in Balance” legislation that does not allow any of our student-athletes, in or out of season, to use our facilities during this dead period. Our winter sport teams will be back on campus practicing on Monday, December 27 preparing for the second half of their season. Here is how our winter sports have done up to this point and when you can see each team in action in 2012:
The SMSU Women’s Basketball team (2-8, 1-5 NSIC) and the Mustang Men’s Basketball team (5-5, 2-4 NSIC) will take a week off before returning to practice on December 27. Both SMSU Basketball teams will welcome to the R/A Facility the University of Minnesota, Crookston (5-4, 1-4 NSIC) on Saturday, January 1, with tip-off slated for 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm, before facing Minnesota State University, Moorhead (6-3, 3-2 NSIC) on Sunday, January 2, with the contests beginning at 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
The Mustangs Wrestling team (2-0-1 overall) will pick up action on January 19 when they head to Mitchell, SD to take on Dakota Wesleyan and Northwestern (Iowa) in a triangular starting at 4:30 pm.
The Mustang Wheelchair Basketball team (6-1 overall) will return to action January 15-16 as the Mustangs play host to the Timberwolves with the set at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm on January 15 and 10:30 am on January 16. The following weekend (Jan. 21-23), the Mustangs will head to Champagne, IL for the College Conference Wheelchair Basketball Tournament
From the SMSU Athletics Department, I would like to wish all our Mustang Fans safe travels this weekend and a Merry Christmas!
Go Mustangs!
