Hello Mustang Fans!

It was another great week to be a Mustang! The Mustang Booster Club hosted the 7th Annual Mustang Shootout presented by the Marshall Radio Station at Shooter’s Sporting Clays in Marshall last Saturday.

Last week’s event saw a record 119 shooters compete in the individual and team competitions that featured thirteen stations where the participants shot at 100 sporting clays. The course featured the “flurry” and “frenzy” stations where shooters were challenged by multiple combinations of sporting clays.

Ron Halgerson won the Champion of Champions shoot-off for the second consecutive year. The special shoot-off competition featured this year’s champion and previous individual Mustang Shootout champions. The individual shooters who posted the best scores of the 119 shooter saw first place honors going to Travis VanOverbeke (95/100), with Zac Corbin and Lance Hurd (92/100) each tying for second place.

The team champions included Zac Corbin, Nathan Buysse and Leo Buysse, while the team of John Murphy, Leslie Murphy, Jeff Kessler and Jim Engvalson earned second place honors. Kim Christensen won the Grand Prize drawing, a grill donated by Running’s Farm & Fleet in Marshall. All proceeds generated from the Mustang Shootout benefit the SMSU Athletics Scholarship Fund. A big thank you the Mustang Shootout Committee Members and all the participants who came out to shoot last Saturday!
