It an enjoyable weekend where many stories were told, friendship were rekindled and great achievements were recognized. We would like to congratulate all our inductees for their accomplishments during their time at SMSU. We would also like to thank our inductees for their hard work and commitment to building the foundation of SMSU Athletics. Their contributions have helped to shape who we are, and where we are going as an athletic department. It was a wonderful weekend and we appreciate all the family members, friends and community members who attended the ceremony last Saturday.
Following the SMSU Hall of Honor Ceremony, the inductees and their family and friends were able to take part in the Hawaiian Night festivities. Once again, our students came out in full force to cheer on the Mustang Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams to two victories. It was a great collegiate environment filled with school spirit and tradition as displayed by our students and all the fans who attended the games. Thank you to all the fans who came to this weekend’s games and helped to create a fun and electrifying atmosphere in the R/A Facility.
It is Gold Rush Raffle Week and you can feel the buzz around town. We have a handful of Gold Rush Raffle Tickets left, which means we will be sold out again this year. Thank you to all who have purchased a ticket in support of the Mustang Booster Club and the SMSU Department of Athletics.
The event will be held this Friday in the SMSU Conference Center beginning at 6:00 pm with a social, drinks and appetizers. To kick-off our program, we will hear from a student-athlete speaker at 7:00 pm and the reverse raffle will start shortly after the speakers conclude. It is a wonderful event that raises money for SMSU Athletic Scholarships through the Mustang Booster Club. If you have any questions about the event or would like to inquire about purchasing one of the last Gold Rush Raffle Tickets, please call Jennifer Graven at 507-537-6233.
The SMSU Baseball program hosted the 7th annual "Super Supper" fund raising event this past Monday to help support the SMSU baseball program. Mustang Baseball partnered with The Hitching Post of Marshall in this great fund raising event. Coach Blanchard and the SMSU Baseball program would like to thank everyone who came out to eat at The Hitching Post on Monday. Your generosity helped to raise over $3,800 for the Mustang Baseball program.
Yesterday was national signing day for our SMSU Women’s Soccer and Football programs. Head Women’s Soccer Coach, TJ Buchholz, announced the signing of ten student-athletes for the soccer program. Head Mustang Football Coach, Cory Sauter, announced the signing of forty high school football players and seven transfers who decided to continue their academic and athletic career at SMSU. Congratulations to the coaches of both programs on recruiting a talented and well-rounded group of student-athletes to SMSU.
