Hello Mustang Fans!

The Gold Rush Raffle was a huge success again this year with the SMSU Conference Center Ballroom packed with supporters of SMSU Athletics and the Mustang Booster Club. We had a lot of new faces at the event and we hope everyone had an enjoyable evening. We would like to thank everyone who attended the event for their generosity and the positive energy that you brought to the Gold Rush Raffle last Friday. The roar of conversation in the room all evening was incredible and is always a sign of our supporters having a great time. Once we have the final numbers, we will share with the community what the fund raising total was for the night.

We would like to thank the SMSU Department of Athletics coaches and staff members for all their hard work before, during and after the event. We would also like to thank Aramark, Public Safety, the Student Center Staff, Scheduling Office and the Maintenance Staff for their support of the Gold Rush Raffle. We would like to thank the Gold Rush Raffle Committee for their hard work as we prepared for the event last Friday. Finally, we need to thank Karen VanKeulen, Ken Mukomela, Brian Gruhot and all the individuals who assisted them in selling 496 of the 600 Gold Rush Raffle Tickets. It is the dedication and passion of the individuals mentioned above that allow us to successfully host an event of this magnitude. The Gold Rush Raffle has become a wonderful community event that we are proud to host.

No one was able to provide the correct answer to last week’s Mustang Hoofprint’s Trivia Question: Name the student-athlete and year SMSU had the first National Qualifier in Track & Field? In 1973, Chuck Thompson was SMSU’s first national qualifier in the Discus placing 13th in the NAIA Outdoor Championships.
