SMSU Falls to Dakota State 93-71

MARSHALL, MINN.:  Dakota State University had four players record double-digit points and were led by Jessaica VanLoy's 22 point performance in the 93-71 victory over Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday night in Marshall at the Hardee's/Coca-Cola Classic.

The Mustangs fall to 3-1 overall while Dakota State improves to 7-1 overall.  SMSU finished with a 54.9 shooting percentage while the Lady T's had a 56.7 shooting percentage in the game while having a 58.3 shooting percentage from behind the 3-point arch.  The Mustangs were only one-for-six from 3-point range.

SMSU had four players with double-digit points as they were led by Heidi Kimmes who tied her career-high points with 14 points, while grabbing five rebounds.  SMSU's Sara Leidall added 11 points while Laura VanOverbeke had a career-high 10 points and Kady Telschow chipped in 10 as well.

The Mustangs were led in assists by Andrea Fennern who had six, while Kimmes and VanOverkebe led the team with five rebounds each.

SMSU was out-rebounded 32-to-28 and had 20 turnovers compared to Dakota State's 13.

Southwest will be back in action next weekend traveling to face Bemidji State and Minnesota, Crookston.
