INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.
- No. 13 Southwest Minnesota State climbed one spot to No. 3 in the third Central Region rankings of 2009 released Thursday by the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee.  The Central Region includes 14 teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and 14 teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

SMSU, which has an in-region record of 19-5, had checked in at No. 4 in the previous two rankings.

NSIC neighbor Concordia University, St. Paul, ranked No. 1 in the nation, again took the top spot in the Central Region.  Five of the top six teams are all from the NSIC as Wayne State, Minnesota State and Minnesota Duluth all fell in behind SMSU.

The rankings were based on records through Nov. 8.

The Mustangs (23-7, 13-5 NSIC) close regular season play at Mary and Northern State this weekend.
