MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team opens the 2009-10 season on Saturday when the Mustangs travel to Fargo, N.D., to wrestle in the Bison Open.

Results from Saturday’s tournament will be made available at www.gobison.com and at www.smsumustangs.com.

Third-year head coach Jesse Nelson has again expanded his roster for 2009-10.   Nelson returns one national qualifier from last year’s squad in David Albrecht.  The sophomore wrestled at 149 pounds last season but is expected to drop down a weight class and man the spot at 141 pounds.  Brandan Schunk (149 pounds), Wade Granger (165 pounds) and Carter Ash (285 pounds), who were regulars in the line-up last season, also return for the Mustangs.  CD Johnson, who redshirted in 2008-09, figures to be a force at 184 pounds as well.

SMSU finished the 2008-09 season 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the NSIC.

SMSU’s first dual action is on Nov. 20 at St. Olaf.
