SMSU Will Meet Metro State (Colo.) in Opening Round of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.
- The NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Committee announced Monday that the Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team has received the No. 2 seed in the Central Region and will face No. 7-seed Metro State (Colo.) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday at 12 p.m.  Concordia University, St. Paul received the No. 1 seed and will host the Central Region Tournament, which runs through Saturday.

This will be the sixth straight NCAA tournament appearance for SMSU and seventh overall.  The Mustangs lost in the regional semifinals last season to Minnesota Duluth.

MSC, which won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament title on Saturday, currently owns a 24-7 record and finished with a 14-5 RMAC record.

SMSU (25-7, 15-5 NSIC) met MSC last season in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament and defeated the Roadrunners 3-1.

The Mustangs went 3-0 this season against RMAC teams, defeating Chadron State (Neb.) and picking up two wins against Regis (Colo.).
