SMSU Ranks High in Final NCAA Statistics of 2009

MARSHALL, Minn. -
The Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team ranked high in the final national statistics of 2009 released Wednesday by the NCAA.  SMSU was in the top 10 in three team categories and had two individuals in the top 40 in a pair of categories.

As a team, the Mustangs were second in the nation in assists per set with 14.06, third in kills per set with 14.86 and sixth in digs per set with 18.25.

Individually, Devin Diedrich was 14th in kills per set with 4.08, while Kenzie Niesche was 40th in digs per set with 4.80.

SMSU finished the 2009 season 25-8 (15-5 NSIC) and made its sixth straight and seventh overall NCAA tournament appearance.
