Barrie, Albrecht fall in First Round of NCAA Championships

Complete Division II Bracket (Quarterfinals Complete)

HOUSTON, Texas
- Southwest Minnesota State's two participating wrestlers in the NCAA championships both lost their quarterfinal bouts Friday morning Houston, Texas.

Michal Barrie lost a 14-1 major decision to Central Missouri's Grant Baker at 133 pounds.  Barrie's lone point came in the third period via an escape.

David Albrecht also lost his quarterfinal bout, falling to Kevin McElehaney of Gannon 10-3.  Albrecht initiated scoring in the bout with a takedown, but McElehaney used a takedown and a pair of three-point nearfalls in the third period to pull away.

The first and second round consolation matches begin at today at 6 p.m.
