ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced today its postseason honors for the 2009 season. Southwest Minnesota State's
Ananda Ferrari was named NSIC Senior of the Year and singles All-NSIC first team, while
Danielle Hildebrandt was named singles All-NSIC honorable mention. SMSU's doubles pair of Ferrari and
Toni Pribyl was also named All-NSIC second team.
Ferrari, a senior from Campinas, Brazil, finished the year with a 14-9 record at No. 1 singles, a spot she held down the entire year for the Mustangs. She received NSIC Player of the Week honors once. Ferrari also posted a 9-14 record at No. 1 doubles, playing a majority of those matches with Pribyl. She is the second Mustang to earn the Senior of the Year honor;
Diana Naatz also received the accolade in 2008.
Hildebrandt, a junior from St. James, Minn., compiled a 9-14 record at No. 2 singles in 2009. This is Hildebrandt's third all-conference accolade as she was named All-NSIC honorable mention at both No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles last season.
Pribyl, a freshman from Dunnell, Minn., finished the year with a 12-10 mark in doubles action. She played most of her matches with Ferrari at the No. 1 spot.
SMSU finished the season with a 8-14 record and 5-6 in the NSIC. The Mustangs captured a fourth-place finish at the NSIC team championship and had two doubles pairs and two singles competitors bring home top-three finishes from the NSIC individual championship.
