2009 Season: The Southwest Minnesota State University baseball team concluded the 2009 season with an overall record of 28-15 and advanced to the program's first-ever NCAA Region Tournament.
SMSU received an at-large bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament in Grand Junction, Colo., earning the No. 5 seed in the six-team tournament. SMSU defeated No. 2 seed Minnesota State, Mankato 11-3 in the opening round, before losing to No. 3 seed Wayne State 28-12 and No. 6 seed Colorado State-Pueblo 15-14.
SMSU had 12 games canceled during the regular season including six Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games. The Mustangs finished fourth in the NSIC standings with a record of 16-10.
