Trent Molacek posted a win by fall and Southwest Minnesota State picked up wins in seven of 10 bouts to top Morningside (Iowa) 28-13 Thursday night in Sioux City, Iowa.
SMSU improves to 3-4 (0-4 NSIC), while MC drops to 7-2-1.
SMSU started the dual by immediately earning six points as MC left 125 pounds open.
Brandan Schunk picked up SMSU's first win by decision, defeating Drew Smith 5-3 at 141 pounds.
Demond Carter followed with a 7-6 win of his own over Justin Truckenmiller at 149 pounds.
After
Wade Granger fell in his 157-pound bout, SMSU managed to rattle off three straight wins.
Molacek ignited the streak by pinning Matt Mueller in 2:10 at 165 pounds.
William Fate then took a 10-4 decision from Chad Morehead before #C.D. Johnson# notched a 9-8 decision over Brian Block.
Brian Rodas finished the dual by blanking Alex Will for an 11-0 major decision in the heavyweight bout.
The Mustangs will host Mary on Saturday at 3 p.m. in their 2009-10 home opener.
