ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State university women's tennis team opened the season this afternoon in a dual match with the University of St. Thomas. The Mustangs lost the season opener 9-0 and are now 0-1 on the season. The match was also the Tommies first match of the season as they improve to 1-0 on the young season.

Trisha Baldwin squared off with Madeline Gail and fell 6-4, 6-3 while Cailey Grupe lost 6-2, 6-2 to Alex Frank in singles. The doubles tandem of Baldwin/Grupe lost 8-6 in doubles to Frank and Gail of St. Thomas.

The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team will open NSIC play next Saturday, Feb. 12 when they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on the University of Mary at 6:30 p.m.
