MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University Athletics Department held the eighth annual "Mustang Shootout", presented by Marshall Radio, this past Saturday, Sept. 14, at Shooter's Sporting Clays east of Marshall.
Proceeds from the event go towards student-athlete scholarships at SMSU.
A total of 107 individuals participated in the event with first place honors going to Troy Bach. Bach along with Dave Wiesen and Travis VanOverbeke tied in the initial shootout, but Bach won the tiebreaker to capture the top prize. Carla Baber won the women's individual championship.
The team champion included Dennis Anderson, Junior Lund, Greg Lund and Dave Wiesen, while the team of Brad Strootman, Aaron Strootman, Dan Strootman, Ron Halgerson and Jim VanderReit earned second place honors.
Lance Hurd won the Champion of Champions shoot-off. The special competition featured this year's champion and previous individual Mustang Shootout champions.
Carla Baber won the Grand Prize drawing, a grill donated by Running's Farm & Fleet in Marshall.
