DAY ONE NSIC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS | NSIC CHAMPIONSHIP PAGE
BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's track & field teams opened competition at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Championships on Friday with the men's team advancing three individuals to Saturday's finals.
It's the first time SMSU has competed in the NSIC Championships since the 1992 season. SMSU head coach
Nate Wolf has six women and 11 men competing in the two-day event.
In the 800-meter,
Alejandro Sanchez advanced to the finals after finishing with the second fastest time in the prelims at 1:56.43. In the 60-meter,
Jay Schneider advanced to the finals after finishing eighth with a time of 7.02, while
OJ Ojullu moved onto the finals in the 600-meter with a time of 1:22.81 to record the fourth fastest time.
Dallin Finley recorded a personal best 22.92 in the 200m, while
Paul Demings finished with a personal best 2:39.07 in the 1000-meter, but both missed advancing to the finals.
Amanda Grengs led the SMSU women's team with a personal best 3:09.64 in the 1000-meter to finish in 13th.
Action resumes on Saturday morning at 10 with field events, followed by the track events at 1 p.m.
