MANKATO, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's track & field teams had a strong showing in day one of the NSIC / US Bank Championships in Mankato, Minn.
On the men's side,
Will Hanson advanced to Friday's finals in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.07 placing second in the prelims. In the 600-meters,
Chris Kveseth finished fourth with a time of 1:22.68 to advance, while
Austin LaFollette also advanced to the finals with an eighth place mark of 1:24.26.
Alejandro Sanchez and
Alex Bloomquist both advanced in the 800-meter, with Sanchez finishing seventh at 1:59.41, while Bonneson was eighth at 1:59.67.
In the finals of the weight throw,
Alex Weis placed ninth with a mark of 15.81m, while
Jordan Flinn finished 10th with a throw of 15.51m.
For the SMSU women,
Eisha Oden placed eighth in the premlins in the 400-meters with a time 58.85 to move into Friday's finals.
Both men and women distance medley teams placed in the top 10 today. The men's team, who includes Sanchez, Kveseth, Ewert Jansen Van Rensburg and
Blake Wooten, placed third overall with a final time of 10:31.53. The women's team, who includes
Savannah Ramirez,
Nya Buom,
Macy Violett and
Amanda Grengs, finished eighth overall with a final time of 12:51.05.
