BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Southwest Minnesota State University track athletes, Will Hanson and Alejandro Sanchez competed well today at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, but failed to qualify for Saturday's finals.
Hanson, competing in the 60-meter hurdles, finished seventh in his heat and 14th overall with a time of 8.15.
Sanchez, competing in the 800-meters, led his heat for three laps, before finishing fourth in the heat and 12th overall with a time of 1:53.24.
Hanson and Sanchez are the first SMSU athletes to compete at the NCAA Championships since the program was reinstated two years ago.
