SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's track & field teams opened the outdoor season on Thursday at the Vance Butler Memorial Invitational at Howard Wood Field.
 
Jordan Flinn, Shawn Jensen and Alex Weis were the lone Mustangs competing in the hammer throw on the men's team, but the trio did not place.
 
On the women's side, Rhiannon Sears, Angela Prokosch and Naomi Dalton competed in the hammer throw but also did not place.
 
SMSU will continue action tomorrow with the remainder of the track and field events beginning at 10 a.m.
