The Southwest Minnesota State weight room gives Mustang student-athletes some of the best facilities in the region.
The 4,059 square foot facility, which was completed in 1996, added more space which greatly enhanced the amount of work stations available, allowing more intense lifting periods.
In January of 2007, SMSU upgraded its weight room with eight brand new power stations, each of which includes a multi-purpose bench press/squat rack and a power cleaning platform. In addition, the weight room has over 20 multi-gym stations, two sets of dumbbells ranging from five to 120 pounds, plyometric boxes and strips, medicine balls and physio balls. SMSU has the capacity to work out 90 student-athletes at a time in this facility.
A 200-meter running track is also located in the R/A Facility. SMSU also features a new fitness center, available to students and faculty, which opened in 2006. The fitness center includes nine cardiovascular machines, including treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, along with nine multi-function strength machines, dumbbells, and an abdominal/stretching area.
