ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS
MARSHALL, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota State University senior men’s basketball player
Kevin Andrews has been named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division third team.
The College Division District V team consists of student-athletes from NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA schools from the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. Sports information directors in the district select the all-academic team.
It is the third straight season Andrews has been named all-district and the fourth consecutive season an SMSU player has been honored. Andrews was a second team honoree last season and third team selection in 2008, while in 2007 Jeremy VanKlompenburg was named second team.
Andrews, a 6-foot-4 forward from Marion, Iowa, has compiled a 3.85 GPA while majoring in accounting and finance. He is currently third on the the team in scoring with 7.6 points per game. Andrews also averages 4.2 rebounds per game and shoots 85.2 percent from the free throw line.
SMSU (11-8, 6-7 NSIC) will host Minnesota State Moorhead and Minnesota, Crookston this weekend.
Southwest Minnesota State University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
