BARRE, Vt. - Former Southwest Minnesota State University men's basketball standout
Ross DeMasi, now a member of the Vermont Frost Heaves of the Premier Basketball League, was recently named to the 2010 league All-Star game that will take place on May 1.
The All-Star game will be played in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Demasi was the Frost Heaves leading vote getter as selected by the fans.
DeMasi is averaging a team-high 33 minutes per game and is averaging 11.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 53.8 percent from the field (as of April 2). He scored a season-high 20 points in a victory over Rochester.
The PBL has teams in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maryland, New York and Oklahoma, as well as teams in Quebec and Nova Scotia, Canada.
DeMasi played four seasons for SMSU from 2005-09 and helped lead the Mustangs to the 2009 NSIC and NCAA region championships. He was a first team All-NSIC honore and was also named an All-America by the NABA.
