2018 Weight Room Upgrades Video
The Southwest Minnesota State weight room, renovated with new equipment in 2018, gives Mustang student-athletes some of the best facilities in the region.
The 4,059 square foot facility, which was built in 1996, added more space which greatly enhanced the amount of work stations available, allowing more intense lifting periods.
In January of 2017, SMSU upgraded its weight room with eight brand new power stations, each of which includes a multi-purpose bench press/squat rack and an Olympic Lifting Platform. In addition, the weight room has five Hammer Strength Rowing Machines, five glute/hamstring developers, two sets of dumbbells ranging from five to 150 pounds, plyometric boxes, and medicine balls. The facility has the capacity to work out 90 student-athletes at a time.
A 200-meter running track is also located in the R/A Facility. SMSU also features a new fitness center, available to students and faculty, which opened in 2006. The fitness center includes nine cardiovascular machines, including treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, along with nine multi-function strength machines, dumbbells, and an abdominal/stretching area.
