Athletic Communications
Your hosts for all Mustang athletics events in 2025-26 are Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, Kelly Loft (kelly.loft@smsu.edu) and Assistant Athletic Communications Director, Sean Devlin (sean.devlin@my.smsu.edu). Media are invited to revisit this site for updated information regarding SMSU's 19 varsity sports. Permission is granted to quote any portion of this Web site in your coverage of SMSU Athletics.
If the athletic communications staff can ever be of any assistance, please do no dot hesitate to contact Kelly Loft or Sean Devlin. In an effort to continue to provide a professional working environment, SMSU has established the following guidelines for media for the upcoming athletics season.
Our Name
Per University guidelines, there are two acceptable usages of the school's name. "Southwest Minnesota State University" is acceptable on first reference of the school, while "SMSU" is acceptable on second reference. The word "Minnesota" should always be included in the name, and "Southwest" should always be spelled out in first reference. "Southwest State University" or "SW Minnesota State" are not acceptable.
