Sutton's Big Day Sinks Mustangs

MARSHALL, MINN.:
Holly Sutton scored two goals and assisted on another to lead No. 19 Winona State to a 4-0 victory over Southwest Minnesota State on a chilly Sunday afternoon.  The loss drops SMSU to 1-4-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, while WSU improves to 4-1-0 in the conference.

Lindsey Hayes led the Mustangs with two shots on goal.  Kayla Borstad made 11 saves in the goal.

Sutton, the NSIC Preseason Player of the Year, opened the scoring just over six minutes into the match on a 10-yard shot from the left side.  In the 34th minute, she assisted on Leslie Schumacher's fourth goal of the season.  Kayla Walters made the score 3-0 two minutes before the half converting on a cross.  Sutton closed out the match with her eighth goal of the season just over two minutes into the second half.

SMSU hosts Wayne State next Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. at Mustang Field for its final home match of the season.
