SMSU Defeats Minnesota, Crookston

CROOKSTON, MINN.:
The Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team defeated the University of Minnesota, Crookston 3-1 in Saturday afternoon.  The game scores were 30-22, 29-31, 30-19, 30-19. 

SMSU now, 17-4 overall and 8-1 in the NSIC, finished the night with a .284 hitting percentage while being led by Erin Contons double-double performance of 16 kills and 23 digs.  Minnesota Crookston hit .109 while they fall to 4-16 on the season and 2-8 in conference play.

SMSU's Laura Hegerle had 13 kills in the contest while Leah Ashburn had a team-high .417 hitting percentage while tallying 12 kills.  Tricia Ingvalson what the fourth Mustang to record double-digit kills as she had 12 as well.

Sara Graf also recorded a double-double having 55 set assists and 15 digs while also adding six kills in 15 attempts with zero errors for a .400 hitting percentage.  Sarah Quiram led the team with 25 digs and Lauren Swain recorded 12 digs for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 10 when they travel to Bismark, N.D. to play University of Mary in a conference match beginning at 6 p.m.
