Mustangs Lose Stunner In Final Minute

ABERDEEN, S.D.:
The Southwest Minnesota State soccer team lost 1-0 on a penalty kick in the final minute of regulation on Sunday to Northern State on a chilly day in Aberdeen.  Katherine Bronson scored on the penalty kick with just under a minute left to win it.  The loss drops SMSU to 2-9-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Kayla Borstad made four saves for SMSU.  The Mustangs had just five shot attempts and one on goal.  Cait Miller and Lindsey Hayes each had two shot attempts and Jessica Curl had the only shot on goal with the other attempt.

Southwest is back in action next weekend when it hosts Upper Iowa at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13.
