WINONA, MINN.:  The No. 10 ranked Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs defeated Winona State 3-1 (30-25, 27-30, 30-18, 30-24) Friday night in Winona, Minn.

The Mustangs had a .293 hitting percentage and had four players record double-digit kills in the victory while holding Winona to a .170 hitting percentage.  SMSU improves to 23-6 overall and 14-3 in the NSIC while Winona State falls to 19-12 overall and 10-7 in the conference.

SMSU was led by Erin Contons who had a team-high 23 kills.  She tallied a .298 hitting percentage with six errors in 57 attacks.  Tricia Ingvalson was secodn with 15 kills and a .387 hitting percentage, while Krystal Schwanke had a team high .400 hitting percentage with 11 kills.  Laura Hegerle rounded out the hitting attack with 10 kills.

The Mustangs out-blocked the Warriors 9-to-7 and were led by Ingvalson who had six total blocks (3 solo, 3 assisted).  Sarah Quiram had a career-high 33 digs for SMSU while Contons added 17 digs.  Sara Graf led the team with 57 set assists, while having five kills and seven digs.

As a team the Mustangs had 71 kills, 18 errors in 181 attacks.  The Warriors recorded 66 kills, 32 error in 200 attacks.  SMSU had 86 digs compared to WSU's 78.

Southwest will be back in action again tomorrow taking on Upper Iowa at 3 p.m. in Fayette, Iowa.
