Mary Ends SMSU's Season

ABERDEEN, S.D.: The University of Mary defeated Southwest Minnesota State 1-0 in the second round of the NSIC Tournament on Saturday afternoon in Aberdeen. SMSU finishes the season 3-13-4.

Mary's Megan Wilson tapped in a rebound in the 62nd minute of the match for the only goal of the day.

Kayla Borstad continued her strong play in the goal, making 11 saves. Jessica Curl led SMSU with four shot attempts.

The match also ends the Jill McCartney era at SMSU, as the head coach resigned early in the season to accept an administrative position at Metro State (Colo.). McCartney finishes her 10-year career at SMSU with a record of 69-113-14.
