Curl's Goal Not Enough, As SMSU Falls to UND

Jessica Curl's early goal was not enough as North Dakota rallied for a 3-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops SMSU to 0-3, while UND improves to 3-1 overall.

Curl scored unassisted just over three minutes into the match.  UND's Mandi Boehmer scored in the 21st minute to tie the score at 1-1. The teams then went scoreless for the next 64 minutes until Megan Tracy put the Fighting Sioux ahead for good in the 85th minute.  Lara Traczyk added an insurance goal two minutes later.

Kayla Borstad made seven saves in the net for SMSU.  UND out-shot SMSU 15-5 on the day and 10 shots on goal to Southwest's four.  The Fighting Sioux also had nine corner kicks, while the Mustangs had none.

SMSU plays again on Sunday, Sept. 2, in St. Paul at Concordia's soccer field against Wisconsin-Parkside.  The match is scheduled to start at noon.
