Sarah Quiram led SMSU with 20 digs

No. 6 SMSU Remain Undefeated in Conference Play with a 3-1 Win Over MSU Moorhead

MARSHALL, MINN.:
No. 6-ranked Southwest Minnesota State defeated NSIC opponent Minnesota State Moorhead in four games (30-25, 30-23, 22-30, 30-21).  With the victory the Mustang remain undefeated in conference play as they are now4-0 in the NSIC and 12-2 overall.  The Dragons fall to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the NSIC.

The Mustangs had four players record double-digit kills in the contest.  They were led by Erin Contons who had 21 kills in 52 attempts with only five errors for a .308 hitting percentage.  Laura Hegerle was second on the team with 13 kills while Leah Ashburn added 12 kills.  Tricia Ingvalson had the team-high hitting percentage of .417 as she tallied 10 kills with zero errors in 24 attempts.

Sara Graf led the team with 52 set assists.  The defense was led by Sarah Quiram who had 20 digs.  Erin Contons was second with 18 digs while Laura Hegerle and Sara Graf added 13 and 15.

The Mustang had a .283 hitting percentage in the victory while MSUM hit .157.  SMSU outblocked the Dragons 7.5 to 6, as they were led by Leah Ashburn who had four assisted blocks.

Southwest will be back in action tomorrow as they face conference rival No. 4 Concordia St. Paul at 6 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
