MANKATO, MINN.: No. 16 Minnesota State, Mankato scored four first half goals and went on to defeat Southwest Minnesota State 4-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer on Friday in Mankato.

MSU held a 33-6 shot advantage including placing 11 on goal.  MSU goalkeeper Shelia Reynolds stopped three SMSU shots to earn the shutout.

Courtney McCarthy suffered the loss in goal for SMSU recording seven saves.

MSU is now 8-1-2 overall and 6-0-1 in conference play while SMSU drops to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in the NSIC.  SMSU will continue NSIC action next Saturday, Oct. 18 at Wayne State.
