Jesse Nelson's first dual victory at SMSU and moves the Mustangs to 1-0 (0-0, NSIC) on the season.
SMSU started strong, rattling off wins in its first six matches of the evening. The streak included a pair of wins by fall as 133 pounder Jordon Rozeboom and
Brandan Schunk pinned their opponents in 4:28 and 2:03, respectively.
The Mustangs' first loss came at 174 pounds when Sioux Falls' Travis Gooberson defeated
Nick Wulf by a 12-4 decision.
Tyler Johnson pinned Jacob Renken in 2:24 to keep the momentum in SMSU's favor.
SMSU dropped the matches at the next two weights--197 and HWT--in two close matches.
The Mustangs are back in action on Friday Saturday when they travel to North Dakota State for the Bison Open.
