SMSU Opens Conference Season with 6-3 Win Over Bemidji State

BEMIDJI, MINN.: The Southwest Minnesota State tennis team defeated Bemidji State 6-3 on Sunday.  The win moves the Mustangs to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC.  Bemidji State is now 0-4 and 0-1 in the NSIC.

Ananda Ferrari continued her dominance this spring, winning 6-4, 6-2 over Kali Welu at No. 1 singles, and teaming with Ramona Lerch for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.  Lerch also found her past winning ways after a tough start to the season, winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.  Danielle Hildebrandt and Diana Naatz each won in straight sets at Nos. 3 and 4 singles, while Trisha Baldwin won in three sets at No. 6 singles.

SMSU plays Minnesota-Morris this afternoon at 2 p.m. in a non-conference match.
