SMSU Wins Third Straight, Second of the Day

BEMIDJI, MINN.: The Southwest Minnesota State tennis team defeated Minnesota-Morris 9-0 on Sunday afternoon in Bemidji in SMSU's second match of the day.  The win was also Southwest's third straight and brings the Mustangs to 4-4 on the season.  UMM is now 0-5 this spring.

Minnesota-Morris scored just three points in the nine matches against SMSU, as the Mustangs dominated each match.  Ananda Ferrari, Ramona Lerch and Diana Naatz each won 6-0, 6-0.  Danielle Hildebrandt won 6-1, 6-1 at No.3 singles, while Cailey Grupe won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.  Freshman Trisha Baldwin won by forfeit at No. 6.  SMSU won two doubles matches by scores of 8-0 and won the final doubles match by forfeit.

Southwest is back in action on Saturday, Mar. 8 with a 2 p.m. match at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter.  Gustavus is currently ranked No. 11 nationally in NCAA III.
