MARSHALL, Minn. -

Tory Brouwer and
Brooke Burmeister combined for 43 kills to lead No. 15 Southwest Minnesota State to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-16) conference victory St. Cloud State Friday night in Marshall, Minn.
The win, which was SMSU's eighth straight, moves the Mustangs to 18-5 (8-3 NSIC), while SCSU drops to 6-17 (2-9 NSIC).
Diedrich was a force, finishing with a match-high 18 kills and hitting .415. Brouwer added 13 kills and a scorching .542 hitting percentage. Burmeister rounded out the double-figure hitters, killing a career-high 12 balls.
Kenzie Niesche shored up a solid back row for the Mustangs, recording a match-high 25 digs.
Cara Carson and
Sara Graf split setting duties and posted 22 and 18 assists, respectively.
The Mustangs held the Huskies to a combined 17 kills in the opening two sets and countered with a 29 kills of their own to move ahead 2-0.
A pair of 9-2 runs in the final set ensured the sweep. A Diedrich kill for match point sent the Huskies packing.
Kiersten Mormann's 27 assists and Sarah Madden's 19 digs led SCSU.
SMSU checked in with 49 kills to SCSU's 29.
The Mustangs will host No. 1 Concordia University, St. Paul tomorrow at 3 p.m.
