Winona State Spoils SMSU's Regular Season Home Finale

ARSHALL, Minn. - Winona State's Lauren Sturdivant scored the game's only goal to lead her Warriors to a 1-0 conference victory over Southwest Minnesota State Sunday afternoon at the Regional Event Center in Marshall, Minn.

WSU improves to 13-4-0 (10-1-0 NSIC), while SMSU drops to 1-13-0 (1-10-0 NSIC).

The loss came in SMSU's regular season home finale.

Sturdivant found the back of the net in the seventh minute when teammates Martha Curtiss and Bryna Peplinksi set her up for an easy shot just in front of the goal.

The Warriors outshot the Mustangs 13-8.  Maggy Rouse led SMSU with two shots.

Mustang goalkeeper Kendra Olchefske made eight saves in the loss, while WSU's Anna Belpedio had five stops.

SMSU closes the regular season next weekend on the road when the Mustangs travel to Minnesota, Crookston and Minnesota State Moorhead.
