Courtney McCarthy scored two goals and
Kendra Olchefske made 10 saves to lead Southwest Minnesota State to a 2-0 conference victory over Minnesota, Crookston Saturday afternoon in Crookston, Minn.
SMSU improves to 2-13-0 (2-10-0), while UMC drops to 2-14-2 (0-11-1 NSIC).
McCarthy opened scoring in the 13th minute when she found the back of the net off a pass from
Tatum Borstad. The score was McCarthy's first of the year.
But the sophomore wasn't done as she took a corner kick from
Heather Anderson and headed it in with nine minutes left in the contest.
McCarthy led SMSU with four shots on the afternoon.
Olchefske posted her second shutout of the season in the win.
UMC goakeeper Anna Ogaard made six saves.
SMSU will play at Minnesota State Moorhead tomorrow at 1 p.m.
