Mustangs Entertain Augustana for 2009 Homecoming

Setting the Stage: Southwest Minnesota State University returns from a two-game road trip to host Augustana College for 2009 Homecoming this Saturday, Oct. 10.  Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at Mattke Field at the Regional Event Center in Marshall.

SMSU will be looking to snap an 11-game losing streak to Augie and earn the program's first win over the Vikings since Sept. 7, 1991. 

SMSU, 3-3 overall, 2-3 NSIC, 1-2 NSIC South, is looking to rebound following last week's 41-33 road loss to Winona State.  The Mustang offense enters the game ranked third in the nation in scoring offense (42.3) and sixth in passing offense (331.7).

Augie, 4-2 overall, 3-2 NSIC, 1-1 NSIC South, is coming off a 36-6 loss at No. 8 Minnesota State, Mankato last Saturday afternoon.  Augustana started the season 3-0 and was ranked  No. 25 in the nation on Sept. 14, before suffering a 42-21 road loss to defending NCAA?champion Minnesota Duluth.
