MARSHALL, Minn. - Minnesota State, Mankato's Gina Paletta scored twice to lead her Mavericks to a 3-0 conference victory over Southwest Minnesota State Friday afternoon at the Regional Event Center in Marshall, Minn.
MSU improves to 8-2-1 (4-2-1 NSIC), while SMSU drops to 0-10-0 (0-7-0 NSIC).
MSU's Brittany Henry opened scoring seven minutes into the contest when she found the back of the net from the right side. Laura Leber was credited with the assist.
Paletta scored 11 minutes later to make it 2-0, a lead MSU took into the halftime break. Paletta knocked in her final goal off a pass from Kristin Coughlin seven minutes into the half to give the Mavericks a decisive 3-0 advantage.
MSU out shot SMSU 27-7 on the afternoon. Fifteen of those 27 shots were on goal.
The Mustangs tallied seven shots--four of them on goal--in the loss.
Kate Voigt and
Kelly Fitzgerald each had three shots and two shots on goal.
Maggy Rouse accounted for SMSU's other shot.
MSU goalkeepr Shelia Reynold made four saves in her eighth victory of the season.
