SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Southwest Minnesota State soccer team dropped its third straight game of the season Sunday afternoon, falling to Minnesota Duluth 2-0 at the Northern Sun Festival in Sioux Falls, S.D.
UMD improves to 2-1-1; SMSU now sits at 0-3-0.
The Bulldogs spread their two goals out, netting the first one in the first period when Ashley Brown scored just before halftime, and scoring the second one in the 75th minute when Kelsey Gratz found the back of the net.
UMD outshot SMSU on goal 10-5. The Bulldogs also had 25 shots on the afternoon; the Mustangs managed just nine.
Maggy Rouse led SMSU with three shots on goal and four shot attempts.
Siobhan Morales and
Courtney McCarthy each recorded a shot on goal.
Goalkeeper
Kendra Olchefske tallied eight saves in her third loss of 2009.
SMSU will open conference play on Saturday at Minnesota Duluth at 1 p.m.
