SMSU Held Scoreless in 4-0 Loss to Bemidji State

Southwest Minnesota State went scoreless for its fifth straight game and fell 4-0 to Bemidji State Sunday afternoon in Bemidji, Minn.

BSU improves to 5-2-0 (1-1 NSIC), while SMSU drops to 0-5-0 (0-2 NSIC).

SMSU's offense did see an improved effort as the Mustangs tallied ten shots, with five of them being on goal--five more than in yesterday's 2-0 loss to Minnesota Duluth.  Tatum Borstad finished with a Mustang-best two shots on goal.  Brittany Oehlerking, Heather Anderson and Siobhan Morales all had one shot on goal on the afternoon.

The Beavers recorded 15 shots, with all but two being on goal.

BSU scored three goals in the first half as Ashlee Ellefsen, Rachel Gustafson and Bri Scanlan each found the back of the net.  Ellefsen struck again just six minutes into the second half with her second goal of the game.

Kendra Olchefske tended to the net for SMSU, making nine saves.

The Mustangs, who are still looking for their first goal of the 2009 season, travel to St. Cloud State and Concordia University, St. Paul next weekend.
